This Week in Manufacturing

Shipping containers are known to travel far. Today’s feature company is matching that energy and expanding cross-country. We’ve all seen shipping containers–sometimes stuck in a canal–and now we can appreciate their versatility. Let’s dive into extreme repurposing!

This week’s feature company is ROXBOX Containers out of both Denver and Houston. Containers may come from far and wide but ROXBOX handles fabrication, welding, and more all in-house. They support a wide range of industries and are transitioning into custom work. What next life will a container have next?

This week’s Fun Fact further supports ROXBOX’s mission by quantifying its recycling mission.

Next, this week’s headlines highlight factory growth and innovation across five separate industries: solar, aeronautics, agriculture, food & beverage, and automobiles. How impressive!

Our podcasts this week handle cross-functional collaboration and the dawning of a new era. Enjoy The Manufacturing Executive and Heavy Hitters!

Finally, this week’s Social Video gives a quick glimpse into the logistical challenges of container work.

♨️ ROXBOX Containers

CEO Anthony Halsch has opened a Texas manufacturing facility to accommodate demand for his company’s shipping container-based construction projects.

Anthony Halsch launched Overcon Containers to buy and sell used containers in 2015. Two years later, he started ROXBOX Containers to modify containers starting with a mobile taproom called the BeerCan. It quickly took off, and Halsch shuttered Overcon to focus on manufacturing with ROXBOX.

ROXBOX has made portable ICU-level hospital rooms and on-mountain restaurants for Winter Park Resort. After almost two years at a 32,000-square-foot factory in northeast Denver, ROXBOX moved manufacturing to Houston in 2023.

Upshot: “That’s really our biggest advantage, it’s speed, and I think a lot of people are starting to recognize that in the development world and the construction world.”
