💴 This Week in Manufacturing
Lasers, in one form or another, have been around for decades, just like today’s feature company. Reaching more than 30 countries and spanning half a dozen industries, this is a force to be reckoned with. Today we’ll cover the ubiquity of lasers and many other interesting manufacturing advances!
This week’s feature company is Power Technology, Inc. operating just outside Little Rock, AR. Operating for nearly sixty years, the company has pioneered new types of laser technology and broadened the myriad of uses of lasers in industries from biotechnology to defense and semiconductors.
Next, this week’s headlines are another strong example of the versatility of US manufacturing: from thermoforming to steel torques and medical production.
Our Social Video highlights one of the most well-known applications of lasers within the defense industry–laser weapons aren’t just science fiction anymore!
Finally, our two podcasts this week, from Heavy Hitters and The Manufacturing Executive both cover the deep desire to improve and innovate our manufacturing prowess.

♨️ Power Technology Inc.
For fifty-five years, Power Technology Incorporated has been a leader in developing and manufacturing lasers for just about any imaginable use, and that knowledge and experience keep them at the top of their field.
With more than twenty-six years at the company, Co-CEO Walter Burgess has been an important part of that success, and as the son of founder Tom Burgess, he knows the history of the business, as well.
With a background in defense electronics and semiconductor work, the founder created a greatly improved, much smaller, longer-lasting, laser power supply on his kitchen table for a local business, and Power Technology Inc. was born.
Upshot: "Our team is really good at shifting gears fast and moving on to the next project. It’s one of the areas where our team excels. They’re really good at a high-mix manufacturing environment.”
