This Week in Manufacturing
One of humanity’s greatest inventions was the electric light. In the ensuing decades, we’ve only expanded and perfected this achievement, like the innovators at this week’s feature company. There’s no reason that manufacturing can’t produce elegant results for consumers and businesses alike!
This week’s feature company is Justice Design Group out of Compton, California. The family-run company is holding down the fort for domestic decorative lighting. A stateside home base allows Justice to offer lighting customization and resolve customer issues in a fraction of the time compared to international importer competitors.
New consumer products can come from daily experiences like those outlined in one of this week’s podcasts: The Manufacturing Report. However, all products rely on the almighty supply chain, as detailed in Heavy Hitters.
This week’s headlines run the gamut from consumer products to aerospace manufacturing, solar panels, and more!
Lighting is a visual medium, and our social video goes into the production of this great invention.
Finally, this week’s Fun Fact sheds light on the lighting industry's future.

♨️ Justice Design Group
Justice Design Group is a major player in the ceramic lighting fixture industry and has roots dating back many decades as a family-run business.
Brandon Levin's father began doing consulting work for Justice Design Group, then a small lighting fixture company that was outsourcing their ceramics work at the time. Employing about fifty people, the business designs and manufactures all its ceramic fixtures, designs fixtures of other materials, and assembles about half of what it imports from overseas in its Compton facility.
About two-thirds of production meets the needs of residential customers, with the remaining third going to commercial users.
Upshot: “The strategic advantage that we have of being a domestic manufacturer allows us to offer designs and flexibility that we otherwise couldn’t, and allows us to handle the needs of customers in a much quicker manner.”
